Students have a Second Step Listening Attentively Homework Assignment to complete with family members today.

We read and discussed examples of traditional Haikus, and wrote our own.  Selected student Haikus have been added to SeeSaw. Domfo, Reegan, and Skylar in Cougar Club are writing a digital class poetry (Haiku) compilation magazine.

We began Math Unit 3 - Addition and Subtraction of Fractions, Lesson 1, Graphic representations of equivalent fractions.  Math HW 1

Tuesday, January 2

We listened to "Old Friends" by Jasmine Thompson, we finished our read aloud novel, Ugly, and read a story about how love and caring looks different in our different homes.  We reflected on friends, and family, and wrote New Year's Goals, Wishes, and/ or Resolutions on a geometrical art star.  Students wrote a draft about how love and care is shown in their homes.

In the afternoon we practiced listening with attention in our Social Emotional Curriculum, Second Step.  The practice involved sitting in a circle and vocally adding alphabetical items to an imaginary suitcase being packed for a journey.  Students had to repeat sets of items spoken before.  More to follow.

No Math Homework.

Monday, January 1 Happy New Year!
