Lesson 14:  unit conversions, beginning with small units, and converting to a larger unit, thus we will need fewer of the larger unit to measure the same distance, weight, or time.  Once the conversion factor is known, divide.

Thursday

Math:  Lesson 13:  Unit conversions of time, weight, and distance using the Metric and Am. Standard systems. HW Lesson 13

Reading/Writing:  Small moment stories;  Spinelli and Hagstrom mentor texts for description details and character development modeling; Dissecting writing for character development information.  Sustained writing period


Wednesday, November 1

Students had an extra music class to prepare for the Veteran's Day assembly

Math: Lesson 12 HW, 1 page only, beginning on question no. 2, Decimal multiplication in word problems.

Science:  Gathering and analyzing class growth data of our experimental plants, part 1. Review of scientific method steps

Tuesday, Oct. 31

No math homework today! The spelling packet given last Wed. is due and there's a spelling test Wednesday.  Some students have personalized lists and will provide me sheets with the words used in sentences and definitions. They'll have personalized spelling tests as well.

Writing:  We're writing about small moments within the Personal Narrative unit.



Monday

Students created a table of their plant's growth from their science journal observations.  Then they wrote a paragraph summarizing their control and experimental plants' growth.  Finally they compared this to the expected growth of the plant.
